November 11, 2427 - An anonymous source inside Starfleet has reported that the starships Rogue and Valkyrie have been dispatched to the Maelstrom Sector to investigate reports of a distress call from the Medical Vessel Hippocrates. The command ship of the Alpha Quadrant Sector, unconfirmed reports suggest that the Hippocrates was on routine patrol near the Federation/Cardassian Demilitarized Zone when it was ambushed by three Romulan Warbirds. The Federation vessel Atlantis was also reported missing in the same incident.
So far there has been no comment from the leadership of the Romulan Republic nor comment from the Romulan Star Empire about these allegations. If true this attack could be devastating to the upcoming Peace Conference hosted by Federation President Gruzy regarding diplomatic efforts to stabilize the relationship between the Federation and the Romulan Empire following the Romulan/Vulcan reunification, the destruction of the Vulcanis Lunar Colony, and calls by Praetor Xeri Tei for President Gruzy to be held accountable for these incidents.
The Federation News Service will continue to monitor and report on the situation.
