Mission Pod
Engineering Pod
- Cargo Pod
- A reinforced pod with two large decks and several external access points, this module can be used when a vessel is required to transport a large amount of cargo. Only a handful of these pods were constructed and are only utilized in periods of great risk for transport of supplies from core systems to frontier outposts.
- Drydock Pod
- The Drydock Pod was the direct result of Starfleet’s heavy losses in combat against the Dominion and the Klingon Empire. Designed to serve as a supplement to the safety of its mothership, the Drydock Pod can safely transport an escort type support vessel inside that can be deployed to defend the primary vessel. When separated the vessel attached to the Drydock Pod is its own starship with its own crew. This pod design is limited to Class 4 ships and above only.
- Habitation Pod
- This pod contains a large number of residential quarters, and is sometimes used on long-term missions, on missions focusing on populating a colony, or general missions to transport a large number of passengers. Specially modified to serve as a troop transport, in its basic configuration up to 6,000 people can be ferried in a habitation module. This module also contains a dozen dedicated transporters, allowing the roughly 5,000 troops to be beamed out within a relatively short amount of time.
- Nacelle Pod
- Designed to enhance the efficiency of a propulsion system, the Nacelle Pod is an additional nacelle that can be attached to a Starship to improve overall Warp Field efficiency.
- Propulsion Pod
- An experimental upgrade initially designed alongside the Nebula Class USS Melbourne, the Propulsion Pod was intended to serve as a supplement to the propulsion systems of a Starship. The design features two nacelles (each approximately one-third the size of the units utilized by the Galaxy Class), an impulse engine, and its own independent propulsion core. The Corps of Engineers has modified several of these prototypes to incorporate Quantum Slipstream Drives. An experimental unit, currently planned for testing on the USS Ark Royal, incorporates a Coaxial Warp Drive.
- Repair Pod
- Designed by the Starfleet Corps of Engineers, the Repair Pod is a specialized mission module designed to permit repair of a structure outside of a drydock facility. The module includes engineering labs, grabber arms for repairs, industrial replicators, machine shops, support bays for three Work Bee EVA craft, and tractor beam emitters.
Military Pod
- Carrier Pod
- This experimental pod includes a large shuttle hangar with the space to hold a significant quantity of shuttles and runabouts. An additional flight operations control tower is also featured in this section that serves to oversee flight operations.
- Prison Pod
- The Prison Pod was an outgrowth of the Federation's engagements with the Cardassian and Dominion Alliance in the 24th Century. Consisting of multiple decks containing specialized prison cells, the Prison Pod is a fully self sustaining module capable of transporting 2,000 prisoners. It has independent security protocols, a functional medical clinic, and fusion generators to power the security systems. In the event of an untenable situation, the Prison Pod can be ejected from the outer hull.
- Tactical Pod
- Designed during the Dominion War, the Tactical Pod design combines the scanning capabilities of a sensor pod and the offensive capabilities of a weapons pod into one module. There are disadvantages to this design. The tactical pod contains fewer torpedoes and only five torpedo launchers (3 forward, 2 aft) in order to make room for the sensor pallets. Also, the scanners are primarily designed to aid in targeting for the torpedoes and phasers, and as such are not optimized for long-range usage and provide 50% of the range of the sensor pod. The module is protected by an independent shield grid built into the unit.
- Weapons Pod
- The Weapons Pod was designed shortly following first contact with the Borg Collective to increase the offensive firepower of the Federation Fleet. The design currently supports 8 forward-facing & 4 rear-facing torpedo launchers, as well as point-defense phaser emplacements. During combat, the Weapons Pod is defended by an independent shield grid built into the module.
Scientific Pod
- Medical Pod
- One of the least produced designs, the medical pod features advanced hospital facilities, additional transporter rooms, and personnel quarters to support a large number of medical staff and their patients. A standard Medical Pod is the equivalent of a level one trauma center and is capable of seeing over 1,000 patients at any given time.
- Science Pod
- Similar in design to the Tactical Pod, the Science Pod was conceived to enhance the scientific capabilities of any vessel incorporating this pod design. The Science Pod features enhanced sensors, multiple science labs (including specialty labs), and living/workspace for science personnel assigned to these vessels. While still enhancing the capabilities of a starship utilizing this design, these ship’s only have 75% of the range of the Sensor Pod.
- Sensor Pod
- This is the most common pod design available within the Federation and the earliest design to be produced, the Sensor Pod was designed alongside the Nebula Class in the 24th Century with the intention of extending the ship’s sensor range, acuity and scan depth. With this pod a vessel is typically unmatched in regards to sensor capability. Ships with this pod module were routinely assigned to deep-space exploration or long-range reconnaissance.
- Temporal Pod
- The Temporal Pod was designed to serve as a mobile research platform into temporal mechanics to better understand time and how it is affected or manipulated in the universe. Vessels utilizing temporal pods have enhanced research laboratories and specialized computer cores that are unaffected by changes in a time stream. The Temporal Pod can also generate a portal through time large enough for a vessel to successfully travel through.
