While operating away from its home port, any installation whether it be Starfleet, Klingon Defense Force, or any other agency runs the risk of encountering hostile and dangerous situations. As a result of this races have developed multiple means of defense. The systems outlined here are designed to inflict damage upon a hostile force.
Energy Weapons
Energy Weapons are the primary weapon system utilized in space based combat situations.
Emitter Types
- Emitter Arrays
- Emitter Arrays are a collection of multiple beam emitters placed in close proximity on the hull of a station or vessel. During the firing sequence, the weapon energy travels along the emitter strip and converges at the best position for targeting and firing upon the enemy.
- Emitter Banks
- Emitter Banks contain a set number of beam emitters that are capable of independent energy discharge at an assigned target.
- Emitter Cannons
- Emitter Cannons are a high capacity beam emitter capable of unleashing large amounts of energy in either a pure beam or pulse form at a target.
- Emitter Turrets
- Emitter Turrets are beam emitters capable of firing energy pulses at a target at a high rate of fire, but at lower power levels.
Weapon Types
- Antiproton weapons
- Antiproton weapons are the primary weapon of Species 8472. Extremely dangerous, these weapons use a concentrated antimatter reaction to inflict massive damage - some of which has been capable of destroying entire planets. Antiproton beams are normally blood red.
- Disruptor weapons
- Disruptor weapons are the standard primary weapon for all ships in the Breen Militia, Klingon Defense Force, the Romulan Imperial Navy, and the Romulan Republican Navy. The Disruptor is very similar to the Phaser; however, it breaks down atomic bonds in the victim. Disruptor pulses are normally green in color.
- Phaser weapons
- Phaser weapons (short for PHASed Energy Rectification) are the standard primary weapon for all ships in the Cardassian Guard and Starfleet. The Phaser operates by sending a concentrated emission of nadion particles at a target and is unique in that it can have its destructive potential limited. Phaser discharges are typically gold in color.
- Plasma weapons
- Plasma weapons are the primary weapon utilized by the Borg Collective and the Ferengi Treasury Guard. These weapons use a concentration of ionized gas particles discharged at a target to cause damage. Plasma discharges are usually teal in color.
- Polaron weapons
- Polaron weapons are the primary energy weapon of the Jem'Hadar Assault Force and the Supremacy Assault Force. Polaron particle weapons are highly dangerous in that they can sometimes overcome Energy Shielding and directly impact the hull. These pulses are normally purple.
- Tetryon weapons
- Tetryon weapons are the primary weapons of the Hirogen Hunters and the Tholian Guard. These weapons pull unstable tetryon particles from subspace to cause damage to a target. These emissions are most commonly blue.
Projectile Weapons
Projectile Weapons - more frequently known as torpedoes - are self-propelled, target tracking explosive devices fired at enemy targets. Each projectile has varying degrees of damage potential, flight speed, and preparation time.
Weapon Launcher
- Burst Fire
- Burst Fire Torpedo Launchers are capable of launching 5 projectiles at one time.
- Rapid Fire
- Rapid Fire Torpedo Launchers are capable of launching 10 projectiles at one time.
- Standard Fire
- Standard Fire Torpedo Launchers are capable of launching 1 projectile at a time.
Weapon Types
- Chroniton
- Chroniton torpedoes are projectiles that can penetrating an enemy's shields due being in a state of temporal flux. These projectiles are used by the Krenim Imperium and The Department of Temporal Investigations.
- Gravimetric
- Gravimetric torpedoes are projectiles that utilize a graviton field to cause structural damage. These projectiles are used by the Borg Collective.
- Photon
- Photon torpedoes are projectiles that utilize matter and antimatter reactions to cause damage in a target. These projectiles are used by the Breen Militia, Cardassian Guard, Klingon Defense Force, and Starfleet.
- Plasma
- Plasma torpedoes are projectiles using ionized plasma to cause massive damage in a target. These projectiles are used by the Borg Collective, the Romulan Imperial Navy, and the Romulan Republican Navy.
- Polaron
- Polaron torpedoes are projectiles that can pass through shields and directly impact a vessel's hull. These projectiles are used by the Jem'Hadar Assault Force, the Klingon Defense Force, and Starfleet.
- Quantum
- Quantum torpedoes are projectiles, similar to the Photon torpedo, that utilize matter and antimatter reactions to cause damage in a target. These projectiles are used by the Jem'Hadar Assault Force, Starfleet, and the Tholian Guard.
- Tachyon
- Tachyon torpedoes are projectiles that emit high concentrations of tachyon particles to disable a target. These projectiles are used by Starfleet.
- Thermionic
- Thermionic torpedoes are subspace weapons that were outlawed by the Khitomer Accords. Despite this they are still used by the Supremacy Assault Force and the Tholian Guard.
- Transphasic
- Transphasic torpedoes are advanced projectiles that use subspace compression pulses to cause extensive damage. These projectiles are used by Starfleet and are highly classified.
- Tricobalt
- Tricobalt torpedoes are subspace weapons that were outlawed by the Khitomer Accords. Despite this they are still used by the Supremacy Assault Force and the Tholian Guard.
- Trilithium
- Designed by rogue scientist Tolian Soran, the Trilithium warhead stops all nuclear fusion within a star causing it to collapse and produce a dangerous shockwave. It is illegal by provision of the Khitomer Accords.
